A very special summer experience awaits you at Maplewood Country Day Camp celebrates its 57th season!
For over 50 years, Maplewood has offered a nurturing environment where children feel comfortable participating in many rewarding activities.
A personal sense of success and achievement provides motivation to learn new skills and practice old ones, while also encouraging our campers to grow through positive social interaction.
As we approach our 57th year, we will continue the Maplewood tradition, expanding our programs and facilities to ensure that the 2021 camp season is our best ever.
Our 5-acre lake is the perfect setting for boating & fishing! You never know who may pop up out of the water. It may be a visit from BIG MAMA, (our resident turtle), or maybe a beautiful bird that you can take for a ride!!! That’s right, this summer campers will get to pedal around on our newest pontoon boats – Pelican, Blue Herron, and a Pink Flamingo. We’re sure that the Duck, Swan, and Dragon will also enjoy their new friends.
Our campers are going to LOVE Spikeball! It is commonly referred to as the love child between volleyball and four-square. It is played 2 vs 2, with a taut hula hoop sized Spikeball net placed between the teams. A player starts a point by serving the ball down on the net so it ricochets up at his opponents. They have up to three hits between them (just like Volleyball) to control the ball and bounce it back off the net.
When they miss, you score. Did we mention that there are no boundaries? Once a point starts, players can move or hit the ball anywhere.
We are thrilled to welcome Gail O. to Maplewood this summer. Gail has been a part of the fitness industry for over 25 years. She started practicing yoga 10 years ago and became a certified instructor through YogaFit teacher training. Gail has completed levels 1 through 4 of the YogaFit training and has taken courses specifically designed for seniors, kids, yoga strength and Pilates. Gail’s style of teaching is part Hatha Yoga with the holding of postures...but is primarily a Vinyasa Yoga Stretch and Flow.
Children derive enormous benefits from yoga. Physically, it enhances their flexibility, strength, coordination, and body awareness. In addition, it improves their concentration and sense of calmness and relaxation. It can reduce your child's anxiety and stress and promote a sense of calmness.
Cornhole is a fun game to play and is suitable for all ages and can be played with two or more campers.
It's an easy game to master! Campers will easily learn how to play and will enjoy the game throughout the summer. Playing cornhole improves hand-eye coordination, body awareness, and bilateral coordination. Teamwork at it's best - Let’s play!
We are proud to announce that Maplewood is accredited by the American Camping Association (ACA), based upon its nationally recognized accreditation process. Developed exclusively for camps, this assessment focuses on program quality, along with health and safety issues, requiring us to review every facet of our operation in a thorough and comprehensive manner.
Our Commitment to Excellence — and what that means to you and your child
As camp professionals, we understand that your biggest concern is for the safety of your child. We also know you have goals for your child’s development related to the powerful lessons the camp experience provides in community, character-building, skill development, and healthy living. We share those same goals, which is why we have taken the added step of becoming an Accredited Camp through the American Camp Association (ACA).
